Ben’s Books

Benjamin Lachapelle is a published children's book author and illustrator.  He writes stories about animals.  Many of his books reveal his rich inner life and his unique perspective as an autistic individual.

Benjamin Lachapelle's Books are available in paperback or digital e-books on Amazon in 11 countries.

How Tall is a Yeti? is a quirky, classically illustrated picture book about a Yeti's humbling lesson on the importance of being bigger than others.  It is the first book in Ben's The Yeti Series, which follows the Yeti and his animal friends on comical adventures while learning valuable life lessons along the way.  After reading a few titles in this series, readers should be able to identify Ben's (and the Yeti's) secret and appreciate the subcontext of all Ben's Yeti stories.

Ben began writing stories about animals in elementary school with the help of supportive and caring teachers and educational aides. They encouraged Ben's love for animals and storytelling and since then, he has not stopped writing, illustrating, and creating. Story writing is one of Ben's ways of managing strong emotions on many issues. His themes range from lighthearted tales to ones with deeper meaning.  Ben’s Covid-19 Series of books touch upon the emotions many children feel about the global pandemic and how it has affected their lives. The common thread in all of Ben's stories and whimsical illustrations is his love for animals. In all of Ben’s titles, readers should be prepared to learn about rare animals and species.
